The photographs in this series were taken along the Louisiana coast, a place now sinking into the same waters that have sustained it for generations. Water by nature is changeable and conforms to any shape. People are likewise adaptable to a shifting landscape. But beyond this practical dexterity, the concept of home remains elusive. The people and places in this series are at a defining juncture. With this in mind, I have come to relate to their persistence, holding onto the rites and the mystery of all they’ve known while preparing, as we all must, for a necessarily new future.
